Nitrochemie works in seven strategic directions including: artillery and mortar charge systems; conventional single-base and multi-base propellants; EI- and SCDB propellants for highest-performance demands; combustible cartridge components; and intermediates - nitrocellulose and propellant paste.
ARTILLERY CHARGE SYSTEMS
By optimising barrel weapons (gun battery), ammunition and charges, we can achieve ranges of up to 40km. We offer fully modular charge systems with all benefits for the user, and logistics for all barrel calibres (L39, L45, L47 and L52).
The DM72 and DM82 155mm modular charge systems were developed for the L/52 of the SPH 2000 and the in-service artillery system using the NATO standard L/39 barrel. The new DM92 fulfils the +63°C firing temperature in respect to NATO JBMOU requirements, a solution for out of area operations in hot environment for the global market.
The 155mm modular charge system is in service in Germany, Norway, Italy, Greece and will soon be introduced in the Netherlands.
MORTAR CHARGE SYSTEMS
Extruded Impregnated (EI®) high energy propellants are well established on the international market. They are particularly suitable for high performance requirements and especially characterised by their excellent system compatibility and stability.
In combination with felted fibre combustible containers (increments), they offer a superior propulsion system solution. Nitrochemie and the world's premier felted fibre increment manufacturer, Armtec Defence Products, have entered into a close partnership to offer these propulsion systems as a modernisation option for current mortar ammunition and as the preferred solution for systems under development.
SINGLE- / MULTI-BASE AND HIGH PERFORMANCE PROPELLANTS
The program for the development and manufacture of propellants includes, with the exception of ball powders, all propellants introduced for NATO use. High-energetic propellants and nitrate-ester-free propellants supplement classical single- and multi-base propellants with and without surface treatment.
High performance propellants displaying temperature-independent and temperature-insensitive characteristics for the entire ammunition range from calibre 5.56 to 203mm were developed and successfully introduced into series production.
COMBUSTIBLE CARTRIDGE CASE FOR AMMUNITION COMPONENTS
One of our core competencies is the design and production of combustible cartridge components used for artillery charges, tank ammunition and other applications. Nitrochemie has the capacity to produce up to 400,000 sets of combustible cartridge components per year.
NITROCELLULOSE AND PROPELLANT PASTE
Nitrocellulose types of different grades and with different nitrogen contents are available. Part of the annual production quantity is used for propellant pastes which are produced according to customer specifications.
Existing expertise is also applied to special projects in the automotive and aircraft industries as well as medical and fastening applications. Another field of expertise in the non-military sector is the preservation of paper.
